I have been crazily craving for MAGGI GORENG in Penang recently. My love to MAGGI GORENG had been escalated to the extent that I walked for 1 hour to dabao my beloved MAGGI GORENG. The desire to have maggi goreng as lunch emerged at 3.30pm, and I was safe and sound in my room with maggi goreng in my hand, at 4.30pm. (okay this's rare, only when I don't have car and I wanted to walk around)
Yea proudly I would tell you the top 3 Maggi Goreng of my own.
(in fact I've also tried only 3 different maggi goreng in Penang)
1. Golden Phoenix food Court
Location - The newly opened Food Court in Sungai Dua, Just next to Universiti Sains Malaysia.
Reason - Surprisingly tasty, a little bit spicy and it's acceptable. Not a lot of fried beancurd but it comes together with chicken slice. Maggi and chicken are being cooked separately, that's why the chicken itself got another sauce (which I have no idea what sauce it is but it's nice)
Price - I order Maggi Goreng with Chicken everytime and it's just RM4
2. Super Tanker Food Court
Location - You should know it. The food court near Bangunan Lip Sin.
Reason - It's quite spicy. Seriously if you cant take pungent food, you don't want to consider buying this. The hawker here very generous one. Cause she put a lot of beancurd, some crispy I dont know what it is and the portion is quite huge too. I didnt put it as the First merely because it taste nice but it didnt surprise me because I simply feel like, it's nice. and thats all.
Price - RM4.20
3. Jiao Sai
Number 3 in this list which also means the bottom of all three.
Location - It's the same road with 火锅之家,steamboat is at your left, look at your right hand side, when you see a smiley face by Happy Mart, and a Joo Huat shop, yea please turn right and you will see Jiao Sai.
Basically THERE ARE A LOT THAT I WANT TO TALK ABOUT JIAO SAI
1. THE NAME
What my friend told me was, Jiao Sai means - BIRD SHIT
They then told me the history of this Jiao Sai, that at first it was at a place where a lot of birds stopping at that area and they shit. So people named it as Jiao Sai.
Till now even the shop owner himself also decided to name the shop as BIRD SHIT.
Hor Chiu bo?
but okay la, quite creative also.
You can look at the signboard, can't you see the white spots on it?
Yesh! Dont doubt, that's BIRD SAI.
They never forget to put the SAI on signboard cause now there has no more birds after they move to this new shop lot.
LOL
2. THE MAGGI GORENG
Frankly I am not fancy at his maggi goreng. First, the instant noodles that he used, I think it's those TomYam instant Mee from Thailand. When he fried it, he put in the Tomyam flavoring from the instant mee itself.
So, what I was thinking is that " I have this kind of mee at home, and I can just cook the mee and I can still fried it myself! What for I 山长水远 go to Georgetown and get your version?"
What I had was a small tomyam maggi goreng. They still got big one which I see had not much different with my small one.
Yea it comes with SUNSHINE EGG and chicken too!!
The egg is okay but a big NAY for the chicken. It's mostly skin but not flesh. I want the chicken daging I dont want the kulit chicken!
*fliptable
3.THE PRICE
Humphhhhhhhhhhhh
Honestly, I think that it's a little bit overpriced. I am totally okay with pricey food, but provided that it's tasty! I am so much willing to spend all my penny for GOOD FOOD.
But......
Just have a look at what we had that night
2 plates of regular maggi goreng tomyam (now I dont even bother to call it as a SMALL, I rather say it's a REGULAR swt)
1 plate of large maggi goreng biasa
3 air limau ice
1 milo panas
All of the above cost us RM30.50
I dont know how much is the noodles and i dont know how much is the drinks either.
Although I dont have to pay for this meal (obviously a Good Samaritan gave us a treat), but I seriously feel so pain for the money used.
5. THE COMPANION
Nah you see.
I was being Jio-ed for this random supper after I finished meeting with musical drama crews. I was walking, on my way back to hostel.
and Siao Zha bo (Jie) just dropped me a call and she started complaining, that I've never make time for her ever since this semester started. And she complained and complained and complained.
SO I gave in and here we go!
JIAO SAI!
Yea so you can pardon me for that dowdy look ya!
Maggi Goreng is over and I shall start looking for other food.
*hiphiphurray
